Waterfront trees grow fast thanks to constant access to water and nutrient-rich soil along the shoreline. While many homeowners enjoy the healthy trees that grow near the water, sometimes that growth gets away from them before they realize how far the limbs have extended toward their dock, steps, or property.

When a Cornelius, NC, homeowner found themselves in that situation, they called Tree Tech Tree Services for tree trimming and pruning services.

Carefully Planning Around the Homeowner’s Waterfront Property

Homeowners in Cornelius, NC, take pride in keeping their waterfront properties clean and well-maintained. A local homeowner called Tree Tech Tree Services when they noticed a large tree growing along the shoreline extending its limbs out over their dock, steps, and waterfront. The overgrowth didn’t just look bad; it put the dock and anyone using the steps at risk.

Once the crew arrived, they walked the waterfront and assessed the tree’s structure. They identified which limbs needed structural pruning, where crown thinning would reduce weight and wind resistance, and which branches to leave to preserve the tree’s natural shape.

The Tree Trimming and Pruning Process Performed by Tree Tech Tree Services

The crew started with deadwood removal, clearing any dead or weak limbs that posed the most immediate risk to the dock and the steps below. From there, they worked through the canopy, focusing on structural pruning to bring the tree’s weight back into balance and to pull the overextended limbs away from the dock and steps.

The crew performed canopy shaping to improve the tree’s long-term structure and reduce the chance of future limb failures. Before they left, they explained to the homeowner that trees near water grow faster and require more frequent professional tree care than those farther from the shoreline.
